Fondré fuels Thomian Rugby for new season

Fondré, the leading brand of Pyramid Wilmar (Pvt) Ltd, has stepped forward as the main sponsor of S. Thomas’ College rugby for the upcoming 2025 schools rugby season. The official announcement was made during a press briefing held at the Berjaya Hotel in Mount Lavinia recently.

The sponsorship marks a major boost for the Mount Lavinia school, which has a proud rugby tradition and a passionate following.

Speaking at the event, Chirantha De Soysa, Chairman of the Rugby Development Committee of S. Thomas’ College, expressed his gratitude to Pyramid Wilmar. “This partnership will help us build the game stronger and give our boys the best possible support for the coming season,” he said.

Asanka Perera, Acting Warden of the College, praised the commitment shown by Fondré. “It is heartening to see a respected corporate partner like Pyramid Wilmar backing school rugby. This is more than sponsorship – it is an investment in youth development,” he said. Representing Pyramid Wilmar, Nadeesha Chandrasekara, Head of Marketing, said the company is proud to support a school with such a deep sporting history. “Fondré is happy to associate with S. Thomas’ College. We believe in supporting talent and team spirit, and school rugby is the perfect platform for that,” she said.

Ramaala Wijesekara, Brand Manager for Fondre, echoed the same message, highlighting the brand’s commitment to empowering the next generation. Dinesh Kumarasinghe, Director of Sports at the College, welcomed the support and said that the sponsorship will go a long way in preparing the players both physically and mentally for a competitive 2025 season.
